Welcome to Raging Dixie's Second Blogpost!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2025 is good year for everyone reading. Since it's the end of the year, I want to give a full recap of the game so far and it's history!
THE BEGINNING
in February of 2024, a game released called "Rubber Hose Rampage" and it was utter dogshit. Like in every sense of the world it was just Cuphead reskinned and shit. Anyways, when I saw this, I made a bet to my friends that I could make the game in Scratch. 2 days later, Rubber Hose Rampage on Scratch is complete! If you want to play it, the game is embedded below.
A bit later, I was in school when I got the inspiration to make Rubber Hose Rampage "good and original". So I started to think of characters. The main character would be a crazy and bloodthirsty kid that is the manifestation of rage itself. I would borrow some inspiration from the characters in RHR, but it would be almost indistinguishable. I made their pupils + signs because I thought that they looked like a crosshair in a videogame or in a sniper. Since this character is made to replace Mickey Mouse, I thought to give them Amanda the Adventurer type of hairstyle. (I still have no idea what it's called so someone please tell me.) Since the game was gonna be called something like "RHR but good", the character would have a hose as their main weapon. I eventually abandoned the hose idea, but the water tank idea I kept. On the right is the first ever concept of Dixie I ever drew. Oh how far we've come.
RAGING DIXIE IS BORN
After a while, I started to realize that this game was starting to have nothing to do with RHR, so I abandoned the idea of RHR but good and decided that I was going to make my own independent game, the issue was that my game still didnt have a name. Asking for one, my friend reccommended the name "Dixie". And thus, Raging Dixie is born.
THE FUTURE OF RAGING DIXIE
Raging Dixie is going to take a while to finish. I'm basically working on this game entirely on my own, so if you have any experience, feel free to DM me on discord. I can't pay you since I'm still a kid, but if it really comes down to it, payment can be discussed.
Small Q&A
Q: What genre of game is this?
A: Raging Dixie is a sidescrolling platformer, similar to Cuphead with it's "Boss Rush" style. You move across the map, beat some some bad guys on the way, and get to the goal. I'm aiming for every level to be unique to keep the game fresh and more replayable.
Q: What is this game being made on?
A: Currently, I'm planning to make the game on Godot, because my friends use it and it seems pretty straightforward. Of course, this may be subject to change. I really do not like programming.
Q: Will this game be 2 player?
A: Yes it will! Not in the initial release, but the full game will have multiplayer.
Q: How much will this game cost?
A: I'm not sure yet, but the demo and it's updates will be free.
Q: Do you need help on the game?
A: Yeah, badly. I can't do all the music and art and definitely not all the coding. If you have skills, show me what you got on discord and I'll consider.
